Rossetti Wins in Playoff

GARLAND, Texas - After four rounds, Todd Rossetti (Dallas, Texas) and Tyler Leon (Dallas, Texas) were tied at 15-under par 273.

Rossetti lipped out his putt for par on the 18th hole which would have secured his victory in regulation tournament play. He took his only bogey for the round on 18, not knowing how Leon had finished.

Leon was in the group before Rossetti and had gotten his sixth birdie for the day on 18 to finish his round at 5-under 67.

He was waiting for Rossetti and 54-hole leader Brian Rowell (Lafayette, La.) to enter the scoring tent to figure out if a playoff was needed or if he was outright winner.

Rossetti and Leon began their sudden death playoff on the 18th hole, and it only took one hole to name Rossetti as the winner of the 2010 Mt. Auburn Roofing Firewheel Classic.

Prior to this win, Rossetti had missed four out of five cuts this season. He is now fifth on the money list with earnings of $20,100.

The Mt. Auburn Roofing Firewheel Classic was hosted at Firewheel at Garland on the Bridges Course (Masters/Champions nines).

The Adams Golf Pro Tour Series' next tournament is the Mary Bird Perkins Merrill Lynch Open, June 9-12 at Santa Maria Golf Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Rule of the Week

12-1 Seeing Ball; Searching For Ball

a. Searching for or Identifying Ball Covered by Sand

If the player's ball lying anywhere on the course is believed to be covered by sand, to the extent that he cannot find or identify it, he may, without penalty, touch or move the sand in order to find or identify the ball.  If the ball is found and identified as his, the player must re-create the lie as nearly as possible by replacing the sand.  If the ball is moved during the touching or moving of sand while searching for or identifying the ball, there is no penalty; the ball must be replaced and the lie re-created.
In re-creating a lie under this Rule, the player is permitted to leave a small part of the ball visible.
