Southwest Kansas Pro-Am Joins Forces With The Adams Golf Pro Tour

GARDEN CITY, Ks. - The Adams Golf Pro Tour Series and the St Catherine Hospital are delighted to announce that the Southwest Kansas Pro-Am will become an official event on the 2010 Adams Golf Pro Tour Series. The Southwest Kansas Pro-Am has a rich 31 year history as a stand alone event. But the new partnership with the Adams Golf Pro Tour will help tournament organizers expand the reach and participation of this wonderful event.

"We could not be happier to partner with a tournament, this rich in heritage and hosted at two of Kansas' best courses", says Tour president Gary DeSerrano. "We feel that this event is very unique and will further enhance an already strong schedule of tournaments we offer to our 200+ touring pros."

The Southwest Kansas Pro-Am will be held in it's traditional spot in early August. The actual pro event dates will be August 4-7. The professional golf tournament and pro-am event will be held at Buffalo Dunes GC and the Golf Club of Southwind. The 2010 tournament purse will increase to $100,000 with the champion taking home $15,000. The unique feature of the week's events is the pro-am. The pro-am will be held during the final two rounds of the tournament, much like the PGA's AT&T Pro-am.

"I am very pleased to be a part of the committee forming this partnership with the Adams Tour", said Ryan Martin, Director of Golf at Southwind. "We have two outstanding golf courses that the professional field will enjoy and the Southwest Kansas Pro-Am will become a 'must play' for the Adams players. With the unique format it will give us the opportunity to grow this field and purse exponentially. Bottom line, it is a win win for both parties."

Buffalo Dunes head pro, Cole Wasinger adds,"I think the partnership with the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series will provide our amateur players the opportunity to play golf with great professional players on two of Kansas' finest courses. Both Buffalo Dunes and The Golf Club at Southwind will provide highly maintained facilities that the professionals will appreciate, and our community will provide Adams Pro Golf Tour Series professionals with hospitality they will return for year after year."

Beth Koksal, Southwest Kansas Pro-Am Coordinator/Philanthropy Coordinator, St. Catherine Hospital says, "We are excited about the Pro-Am's partnership with the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series. This partnership provides St. Catherine Hospital, the City of Garden City and The Golf Club at Southwind an excellent opportunity to showcase St. Catherine's Newborn Intensive Care Unit as well as our nationally renowned golf courses to a larger, nationwide audience. We look at this partnership as a way of providing a higher caliber of professionals to our playing field, but more importantly the opportunity to grow the tournament to benefit those patients utilizing St. Catherine's Newborn Intensive Care Unit."

The Adams Golf Pro Tour expects over 132 professionals, including several from as far away as Australia, England, and South America to compete in the tournament. The dates are convenient for the hundreds of pros wanting to qualify at this year's Wichita Open, an official event on the PGA's Nationwide Series.
