Monroe Open Moved to October

Carrollton, Texas (June 27, 2011) - The Adams Golf Pro Tour Series announced today that the Monroe Open, originally scheduled for July 6-9, has been moved to October 12-15.  Chennault Park Golf Course will still play host to the tournament week.

Due to continued sponsor discussions and golf course related projects, the local tournament committee and Chennault Park GC need additional time to prepare for the tournament week.  Tour officials have elected to postpone the Monroe Open until October.

We are very excited about our new relationship with the Adams Golf Pro Tour and can't wait to showcase our great facility in October", says Chennault Park Director of Golf Michael Nugent.  "I know the added time we have been given to prepare for a tournament of this magnitude will allow us to present a championship caliber golf course to the visiting pros.  We are committed to makings this a successful event for the tour and the City of Monroe for years to come".

Said Tour Director, Tyler Wolford, "These decisions are never easy; especially this close to the original tournament date.  However, we feel strongly that this event needs to get off to the right start in year one.  We continue to stand by our commitment to provide a first class event to players and the City of Monroe, while also helping raise money for a local charity.  We hope this new October date will do just that.  Plus, this should fit in well with our other events leading up to Monroe - Houma, LA and Meridian, MS.  Players will have additional options to compete and work on their game just before First Stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School."

The Adams Golf Pro Tour Series, Chennault Park Golf Course, and the City of Monroe would like to thank all the players and local sponsors for their support and understanding with this change.  We look forward to October.
